The Department of Materials Science and Nanotechnology is one of the newly established postgraduate Departments of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology.
The newly established Department of Materials Science & Nanotechnology has stared functioning from the session 2010-11. The Department combines the cutting edge areas of Materials Science & also the related Nano-technology fields and is committed to training students in all aspects of modern materials including metals, ceramics, polymers, electronic and optical materials and materials characterization. Modern state of the art laboratories are coming up so that the students have opportunities for hands-on instruction research with modern equipment and facilities.

Being a multidisciplinary programme which touches upon almost every other conventional engineering/ Science discipline. It integrates diverse areas of science and technology, and aims to create new materials with novel properties for academic, scientific and commercial interests. In fact, Materials Science and Nanotechnology professional are heavily sought after by industries of all types, including automotive, chemical, aerospace, microelectronic, magnetic storage, transportation, sports, defense, forensics and manufacturing apart from university and colleges as faculty.

The faculty of the is actively engaged in the following domains for Research. Thrust areas are  Materials Science; conducting polymers, Nanomaterials, Nano-Composites, ceramics, glass and have individual Major Research Projects from Govt. funding agencies like DST, UGC etc. . The department offers M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes.
