About the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Chair for Sustainable Development

 

 The Government of Haryana established Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science & Technology (http://www.dcrustm.org and http://www.dcrustm.ac.in ) through an act of legislature, dated 30.10.2006, by upgrading Chhotu Ram State College of Engineering (CRSCE), Murthal, which was earlier established in 1987. The Govt. of Haryana has granted affiliating status to this University from academic year 2011-12. Thirty (30) Engineering and Management Institutes of the District of Sonepat and nearby areas have also been affiliated to this University by the Govt. of Haryana. This University is recognized under article 12(B) of the UGC Act (1956). The Campus of this University is located on NH-1 in NCR at 50 km stone on the Delhi-Amritsar Highway. The University boasts of a lush green campus spread over 273 acres of land. 

 

The Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Chair is a leading Chair for Sustainable Development in India, and has been established by Govt. of Haryana with initiative of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Er H.S. Chahal at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal, Sonepat, Haryana State in India. Its objectives are to work for the promotion of mutual understanding and cooperation between Indian communities, particularly farmers and youth communities from other parts of the world, making joint efforts to maintain sustainable development both at home and abroad, to overcome the various problems brought on by climate change, global warming and environments issues and other problems in India and abroad, to educate and create awareness about national and international community development initiatives. The Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Chair aims to create a new awareness to protect our natural ecological environment and to aid to overcome the various problems brought on by climatic disasters by education and creating awareness among local community for sustainable development through our excellent team of the chair. 

 

This Chair will start a wide range of programmes designed to address local, national and international issues and promotes community development and also environmental sector. We also consider problems facing both India and other parts of the world and our main objectives are to promote the farmer community of world for sustainable development. To date, the chair has established friendly contacts with around 10 countries, where Indian particularly farmer communities have migrated and settled there as well as some international organizations and has actively participated in various global activities related to environment, climate change, global warming, peace, security, human rights & community development and community assistance. In the global village which we call planet earth, it is now time to unite in our efforts to face any challenge in any climatic disasters. The future of the world communities lies within our own hands and it is now that we have to act strongly together in order to make the world a safer and better place for future generations to providing healthy environment for sustainable development at local, national and international levels.

 

Prof. Jagbir Singh has been appointed as the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Chair for Sustainable Development.
